YouTube is a website that hosts videos, uploaded by millions of people from around the world. YouTube is quite the success story and is a prime example of how important viral marketing and an aggressive campaign can be to the success of a website. There were plenty of websites that streamed video before YouTube, but none of them marketed their product as aggressively. The result is a website with millions of visitors daily. Although there will never be another YouTube, their success can help your website.
Many clever marketers are using YouTube to promote their website or business by uploading creative videos that captivate the audience. Based somewhat on a democratic system, popular videos remain predominately on the YouTube homepage. Imagine, being front-and-center (or off-right in this case) on the homepage of a website with MILLIONS of daily visitors! What do you think that will do to your website traffic? The potential is there. The difficulty is actually finding the creative talent to develop a video montage that won't look like a promotion and users (ANY user) of YouTube will want to talk about. It doesn't even have to be related to your website! Easier said than done. If you do take on the challenge, make sure to self-promote at the end of the video by fading into your website URL.
Write a Testimonial
If you visit a website frequently or use an application or service regularly (such as Free Links Direct) then you may want to consider writing a testimonial about it. Testimonials are brief summaries of the benefit you get from using the service or website and how it's helped you or your business. The great thing about testimonials is they are often displayed predominately on the website you've written about. At the footer of the testimonial is the source of the testimonial (such as a person's name or a business name) and a back link to the author’s website. It pays to take a few moments out of your day to write a few kind words about something you actually use and get benefit from.
